About the next Jurassic World film

Universal has the next Jurassic film pencilled in for Friday 9 June 2028, following Jurassic World Rebirth in July 2025. It would be the eighth film in the series that began with Jurassic Park in 1993.

Director Gareth Edwards and Scarlett Johansson are both reported to be returning, with Jonathan Bailey and Mahershala Ali expected back alongside them. The story is said to continue with Johansson's covert operations specialist, Zoe Bennett.

Two things are worth saying plainly. The working title reported in trade coverage is Jurassic World Liberation, but Universal has not confirmed a final title. And filming has not begun — reports point to a start in early 2027, which is what a June 2028 release depends on. A date this far out on a film yet to shoot is a schedule placeholder, and placeholders move.

The countdown runs to midnight UTC on 9 June 2028 and will be updated here if Universal changes the date.
